Chart-topping Christian pop star Lauren Daigle has stirred up a great deal of controversy with her recent comments on homosexuality. In a radio interview, the media darling stated that she “did not know” if homosexuality was a sin – a similar stance taken by many Christian entertainers in their attempt to achieve stardom in the secular world. In addition to being a sad commentary on the apostasy in the church today it’s merely the latest example of why the quest for worldly riches and fame is so often incompatible with Biblical Christianity.
The Lauren Daigle Interview
Here are the comments from Daigle:
“I can’t honestly answer on that, in the sense of I have too many people that I love and they are homosexuals,” Daigle told the celebrity publicist.
“I can’t say one way or the other, I’m not God. When people ask questions like that, I just say, ‘Read the Bible and find out for yourself. And when you find out let me know because I’m learning too,’” she added.
It is almost ironic that Daigle said “I can’t honestly answer on that” because she attempts to convey that she almost has no clue as to what parts of the Bible the interviewer could be referring to. The Lord Jesus Christ very clearly defined marriage as between a man and a woman:
“And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” – Matthew 19:4-6
Jesus Christ quoted the book of Genesis going back to the first couple – Adam and Eve, to confirm God’s order on marriage. The Bible also explicitly states that homosexuality is a sin. Romans 1 makes this quite clear:
“Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” – Romans 1:24-27
In this passage the Apostle Paul explains the process by which a person who rejects God (despite knowing His existence) falls deeper and deeper into rebellion against The Lord. Sin is a process and once a person is far enough removed from The Lord, they can be “given up” to their own lusts. The conscience which God has given all people, can become “seared” and the person will seek to serve their sinful desires more than anything. And notice they “change the truth of God into a lie” – this has been seen with Daigle as well as other “former Christian” pop stars such as Miley Cyrus who has rejected Christianity and embraced all manner of sexualized behaviors and Katy Perry, who started as a Christian singer and has repeatedly attacked the Christian faith.
This grouping of sins in Romans 1 also includes men “burning with lust” for other men – as well as women lusting for women. The Bible refers to these relations as “vile affections.”
Daigle is very careful in her answer not to get into any specific Scripture and bases her statement on the fact that she “has too many people that I love and they are homosexuals.” But respectfully, that is not the issue. There are probably many heterosexual people that Daigle loves who are adulterers, fornicators, thieves and liars, but that does not make those sins any less wicked. Nor does it change what God says about those sins that heterosexuals commit.
The Pressure On “Christian Entertainers” To Compromise Their Faith

It is little surprise that Lauren Daigle took such a wildly unbiblical position on homosexuality – because it serves as the litmus test in Hollywood for acceptance, endorsement, fame and wealth. In recent weeks, Daigle has been featured on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and The Ellen DeGeneres show among many others. This type of massive media attention and promotion would come to an abrupt halt if she were to take a Biblical stance on homosexuality. Beginning And End previously covered “Christian” singer and megastar Carrie Underwood’s proclamation that she attends a gay-affirming church. And contemporary Christian singer Jennifer Knapp, who was once called “the next Amy Grant” took a more aggressive stance debating a pastor on Larry King Live to support her position that the Bible in fact does not call homosexuality a sin. The Bible says:
“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” – James 4:4
The sinful, fallen world will always demand that entertainers choose their way and thinking over God’s. This is a difficult spiritual battle for young entertainers who are now being presented the opportunity to make millions of dollars. And once they compromise it helps open the door wider for more Christians or those interested in the Christian faith to move into grave error and proclaim that homosexuality is no longer a sin either.
This is part of the prophesized apostasy – the great falling away in the church as the end times approach. The Bible predicted that this type of quasi-Christianity – a mixture of some Biblical truth with wildly incorrect teaching – would gain great popularity:
“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” – 2 Timothy 4:2-4
Like many false pastors and teachers who call themselves “Christian” Daigle has abandoned sound doctrine – based on the Bible in favor of “fables.” And rather drawing people to Jesus Christ, she is promoting confusion and a false Jesus that is not based on the actual Bible. Where is her pastor in the midst of this? Where are the elders and leaders in her church to give her proper guidance?
As more and more churches take watered down stances on the Gospel, the exclusivity of Christ as the way to salvation and sin itself, there should be no surprise that their members reflect the same incorrect doctrine. This is the current state of the church today as more and more pastors compromise and seek worldly means to building their church memberships.
So it should be no surprise that many young Christian church attendees today hold beliefs that are not entirely in line with the Bible but instead favor the current political and social climate of the world. If more pastors would preach the Bible accurately and rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to convict, redeem and ultimately shape their congregations into the image of Jesus, then we would see more young Christians who have a Biblical worldview.
Pray For Lauren Daigle
“I think the passage that says, ‘Go out into the world and draw people unto Him,’ the Great Commission, that’s what I think about in regard to the mainstream aspect,” Daigle told CP in the interview. “I wasn’t looking at [making my music] as in mainstream versus Christian. I was like, ‘OK, what is the purest version of me? Or what is the purest thing that God has written into my spirit and how do I express that? How do I communicate that?” – Lauren Daigle, (source).
“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. This he said, signifying what death he should die.” – Jesus Christ, as quoted in John 12:32
What Ms. Daigle needs now more than anything is prayer. It is easy to criticize and chastise her – but born again, Bible believing Christians should pray for her. Pray that she receives loving, Biblical correction and rebuke for her incorrect stance. Pray that she reads the Bible, learns and believes the Gospel. The true Gospel – which proclaims all people guilty and deserving of eternal damnation. But that the true good news is that we can all be forgiven for our sins – and yes, that means we must believe in sin. We need young Christian who can know and understand who God really is. And that the same God who condemns sin, loves all of us – as we are all sinners.
We need a young generations who can lovingly use God’s Word to share His wonderful light with others and be the church leaders of the future. We need the youth and young adults of today to know that singers, rappers, poets, hipsters, emos, activists and athletes are welcome in the family of God. And it starts with an accurate telling of the free forgiveness of sin found through faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
God proved His enduring, eternal love by sending Jesus Chris to die and take the punishment for all people. In the above quote, Daigle expressed her desire to draw people to Christ. That is done by pointing people to Jesus who will draw all people to Himself. We need to put our faith in the Word of God and not marketing, catchy music or entertainment to draw people to the faith. Lord willing, Ms. Daigle will realize this power in her own life.
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. (Leviticus 18:22)
If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. (Leviticus 20:13)
I’m always amused that Leviticus 18:22 somehow fails to add “nor shall you not lie with a female as with a man,” as though no one could ever conceive of such a thing….
I was saddened when Lauren won the 2019 Dove award for best artist and song–I considered that in itself a “sign of the times” among young people. My niece in Colorado goes to a “church” whose pastor issued a statement apologizing to gay people. I rebuked him for it, and my niece actually told me “God doesn’t judge us for our sexual preferences”–and she also claims to read the Bible. What the world NEEDS, Lauren, is NOT a “little bit of ‘love'”–but MAJOR SURGERY. You need to love people with TRUTH, not COMPROMISE!!!
WOW! What a shame. She is under a lot of pressure for a young woman especially considering she’s not very mature in her faith. We’d all do a lot better in terms of proclaiming truth if we would just stick to scripture, allow God to speak for us and stop worrying about consequences. I’d like to share an article I wrote that I think may be helpful. https://wordsofwisdom.gr8.com/
Sadly, this is nothing new. I saw this in a milder form when I went to The Dove Awards in the late 90s. There were famous CCM singers in beautiful gowns (braless), most of the singers/musicians gave small credits to the Lord except for a tiny few.
Then our Tour Bus from the JoyFM took us to a Cafe to hear a young and up & coming male singer. He was talented, but listening to his talk in between songs I right away realized that CCM Musicians need to let Solid Preachers teach Doctrine because it was clear he didn’t understand how to explain the word, but rather sounded more like the World.
The Lure of Fame & Money has really hurt many Christian singers going back to the Gospel Quartets and Soloists going decades back. Some fell into Affairs, some compromised their Messages and began singing crossover pop only songs and some even walked away from the Faith. Ray Boltz claimed he was proud to proclaim of his homosexuality.
In L. Daigle’s case she is still so young and I sure hope she doesn’t fall like some others have. But some of her songs reveal the lyrics express a misunderstanding of the Word.
Come Alive
As we call out to dry bones come alive, come alive
We call out to dead hearts come alive, come alive
Up out of the ashes let us see an army rise
We call out to dry bones, come alive
I’m sorry, but we do not call out to dry bones to come alive. Only the Lord, the Holy Spirit can quicken the heart of a dead, lost person.
She is so not alone in interpreting the scriptures in song incorrectly. Makes me wonder which preachers they are listening to each week.
“There is no one who is righteous. Not even one.”
That goes for Lauren Daigle. And each and every one of her critics.
Hi Mark – Amen. We are all sinners. The difference is that Ms. Daigle does not recognize what the Bible calls a clear sin as being such. And that is just the product of the move away from following Biblical Christianity in favor of person-centered, pragmatic teachings that tickle the ears of the listeners. The issue is much bigger than Ms. Daigle. It starts with the pastors who will not preach sound doctrine.
Mark, please read Isaiah 5: “WOE to those who call evil good and good evil, who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own sight.”
The apostle Peter also wrote that “Lot, in HIS righteous soul, was TORMENTED by the lawless deeds he saw and heard around him.” Was Lot sinless? No, but he was commended by God Himself for “being tormented” by homosexuality.
Lauren isn’t “tormented” by it, nor does she believe the Scriptures that tell us that Sodom and Gomorrah was written down as a WARNING to us! God destroyed entire cities for the sin of homosexuality, and we must stand on the Word of God, for “Blessed is he who is not condemned by what he approves.”
Lastly, God would have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah if He DOESN’T punish our country for approving gay marriage (“To whom much is given, much will be required,” Jesus warned. We in America HAVE the Bible, we KNOW God’s righteous decrees concerning homosexuality, and we MUST not condone something we kNOW He condemns!!!
What is love? Many songs have been written about L.O.V.E. The whole world turns around on love. Amour, Te Amour, Je t’aime, I love you. There are so many ways to say it and countless ways to express it. Love is deep, but love can be shallow too. Love is sweet never bitter. Love is holy never perverted. Lovewins reviews relationship through the biblical standards set in God’s Word. Whether you are single, married, divorce or part of the LGBT community, you can come to know and understand for yourself what God wants and says about love, sex, and relationships. Love wins when you give love a chance, and especially when you start to grasp the moral codes, that enables you to enjoy healthy (sexual) relationships and true love. Because man often follows his own natural instincts, God’s had to set standards and guidelines for keeping and guarding oneself in a world prone to decay and rebellion against his laws of restriction, but life in the end. From the fall of innocence back to the restoration of holiness, Lovewins explores the practical side of God’s word to overcome the temptations everyone faces. You are not your own, but you are his, bought with a price. Lovewins is full of scriptural wisdom, poetic drama, and common sense. Finally, it shows the heart of God and the grace of Jesus to deliver men and woman from a life of sexual immorality and certain death, as depicted in John 8. Here you will find the Master in love and law, showing mercy when the law had every right to punish.

Check out some pictures of Lauren Daigle. She often wears a crescent moon necklace, which is what a lot of wiccans wear.
The Bible leaves nothing out. God has said all He wanted to say in the pages of scripture. God addresses these commands and others in the Bible to men because He has placed man directly under Him by order of authority. He addresses man regarding homosexuality not only because of his position but also because he carries the seed for all of humanity – not the woman. The woman cultivates the seed. Therefore, If men lie with each other there is no humanity.
