A few weeks ago we covered the premier of the viral film “180” in which evangelist Ray Comfort interviews 8 different people and seeks to change their view on abortion from pro-choice to pro-life with one question by framing the abortion debate in comparison to the Holocaust of Nazi Germany. The movie, available for free viewing, has already received 1,000,000 views on the web. Now the makers of the film have been able to distribute copies of the film on DVD to 200,000 college students at universities across the country.
As the Christian Post reported: It’s not only being watched online, people are buying it to give away,” Comfort said in press release about the college DVD distribution. “We have sold more than 150,000 copies in a matter of weeks. One small church purchased 16,800. But this week’s university giveaway was very special because it put the physical DVD into the hands of the youth of America, and engaged many in healthy dialogue.”
Jared Duba, 21, who is a member of the NorCal Seedsowers ministry, participated in the distribution of 1,000 DVDs at San Jose State University. Duba, also a freelance videographer captured the SJSU giveaway on video. “We chose to begin right as most students got out of class, so it was pretty crowded. I’ve heard that teams had a really hard time passing out the DVDs on other campuses, but it was really easy for us,” Duba said. “We passed out all of ours within the first 20 minutes or so.”
As liberties and rights are being restricted more than ever, it is important to speak up for those who have the least say in society — the unborn. Without advocates who understand the value of a human life, even if it is in the womb, their murder via abortion would go unabated. The Bible is clear on this issue — life begins in the womb: 14What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him? 15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb? (Job 31). Film like “180” are helping to explain how precious human life is and the idea that we can “choose” to end a life without moral consequences is a deception. In addition to the massive distribution, the film has also exploded online with over 1 million views in less than a month. All the while the Gospel message in the film is also being shared. This is the Great Commission seeing its fulfillment.
Continue in prayer for the efforts of Ray Comfort, Living Waters Ministries and the whole team behind “180” that people will reconsider their views on this issue and start to see things God’s way.
